The display on the [[product_overview:front panel]] presents information about the status of the Internet Gate and connected networks.

===== Power on =====
Sequence at normal power on:
  - RST : Bootloader has been started. Firmware is being loaded into unit.
  - CFG RST : Firmware has been started and is in progress of starting the unit. Configuration is being loaded into the unit.
  - HELLO (scrolls across the display): Start sequence completed. Unit is working in normal mode.

By keeping some front panel buttons pressed during power on unit can enter [[product overview:special modes]] that result in different display behaviour.

===== Normal operation =====
During normal operation the current security profile (Hi, Lo, AC) is displayed. 
If "bLo" (Blocked mode) is displayed no data transfer is allowed between interfaces, i.e. the firewall blocks everything.

If the modem is disconnected from the phone line the following is displayed:
  - One dot: Idle – no DSLAM (your ISP's ADSL equipment at the other end of the telephone line) at all has ever been detected since power on.
  - Two dots: Idle – DSLAM has been detected but no successful connection to it has been made.
  - Three dots: Idle – an ADSL connection has been established at least one time since power on, even though there is no such connection at the moment.

While ADSL is trying to connect the following is displayed:
  - One rotating 8: ADSL connection in progress (phase: exchange)
  - Two rotating 8: ADSL connection in progress (phase: training)
  - Three rotating 8: ADSL connection in progress (phase: line analysis)
After the ADSL connection has been established the display enters normal operation mode.

Each time the firewall stops a packet the small dot in the upper left corner of the display (below AD) is flashed.

===== Unsaven changes =====
CFG is lit on the display if there are settings in the unit not [[settings_and_administration:apply_and_save_permanently|saved permanently]].

===== Remote access =====
By holding the ALT button pressed for 3 seconds, until CFG is shown, you open up your unit for [[web_gui:remote_config|remote access]]. Your unit's global IP address is displayed and then you have one minute to access your unit from anywhere on the Internet at port 66 of that address.

Example: If the display shows 50 11 69 17 then access the unit using URL %%http://50.11.69.17:66%%. No login/password is required to access the unit's built-in web pages. If no access is made within one minute the connection and temporarily opened access is closed. This mode is great for support.

===== E-mail notification =====
Up to nine POP3 e-mail accounts can be [[web GUI:e-mail page|monitored]]. If a new e-mail has arrived the account number [1] to [9] is displayed (looping if multiple accounts has e-mail). Press any button to return to normal display mode, or wait for next check after e-mails has been read.

===== ADSL information =====
By pressing SEL button repeatedly you can view ADSL information:
  * LQ - SNR Margin.
  * TS - Transmit link bit rate.
  * RS - Receive link bit rate.
For TS and RS values without decimal point means Kbps, values with decimal point means Mbps.

===== Setup mode =====
Holding the SET button pressed for 3 seconds while the display is in normal mode enters [[settings_and_administration:front_panel_configuration|setup mode]].

===== Special displays =====

A rotating bar + IP : No WAN IP connectivity. WAN link is up, but WAN IP address (inside DHCP or PPP answer) has not been received yet.

A rotating bar + number : Progress counter counting up or down. Firmware upgrade or other operation in progress. Do not turn unit off before progress is finished!
 
Two rotating bars : Processing. Flash file system save or other operation in progress. Do not turn unit off while processing is displayed!
 
Press SEL to install (scrolls across the display) : A new configuration has been loaded through provisioning. The user now must press SEL button to install it and reboot unit.

===== Interface selection =====
Depending upon special branding, some units may display "AdS" (not "Ad5") first time they are powered on. This special interface selection mode allows user to select what interface to use as WAN interface:
  * "AdS" = ADSL interface
  * "EtH" = ET0 Ethernet interface
  * "FLA" = ET0 interface in Fiber LAN Access mode
Select mode using the SEL button, then press SET to activate. Unit then reboots and "AdS" is no longer shown.

===== Error messages =====

“888" at power-on : Bootloader could not be loaded. Unit needs repair.
 
IFC (during power-on boot) : Wrong [[:license|IFC]] found in unit. The unit will attempt to correct the IFC and reboot.
 
LIC : Out of SIP [[:license|licenses]]. All SIP licenses are in use – more SIP licenses need to be bought to allow more SIP connections to be established. Purchase more SIP licenses using the “Buy Extras" button on the [[web GUI:login page]].

E : A fatal error has occurred. The unit has crashed and needs to be turned off and on again. Debug information might have been collected of the event – check [[web GUI:Administration page]].
