Dial codes

Phones attached to the PH ports of Internet Gate can be used as SIP phones. Many common tasks can be performed using dial codes dialed on the telephones' keypads.

:!: The behavior of phones connected to the PH ports are configurable.
The dial codes described here are of the default extended USA configuration.
You can see the dial codes used by your device on the according buttons on the Telephone Ports page.

An alternate way of performing those tasks is using the Telephone Ports page.

Call

To place a call:

  1. Pickup headset and wait for dial tone.
  2. Within 30s, dial the number you want to reach.
  3. Every digit within the number must be dialed within 4 seconds.
  4. Number is complete when 4 seconds have elapsed or when # is pressed.

To force calls to the ordinary telephone landline (FXO) dial ** in front of the telephone number. Thus for example dialing **5551234# will call the ordinary telephone number 555 1234.

Call Waiting

To enable or disable call waiting:

  • Press #91 to enable
  • Press #92 to disable

A single beep is heard when a second call comes in, 10 seconds later a second beep is played.

After 12 seconds the caller gets a busy tone if call is not picked up.

To hang up current call and pick up the waiting call:

  1. Hang up to quit current call.
  2. The phone will start ring so you can pick up the waiting call.

Put current call on hold and pick up the waiting call:

  1. Press Flash to put current call on hold.
  2. Answer the waiting call.

Other ways to handle call waiting:

  • Press #0 to deny the waiting call (send busy to caller immediately).
  • Press #1 to hang up current call and answer the waiting call.
  • Press #2 to put current call on hold and answer the waiting call (call alternation).
  • Press #3 to answer the waiting call and connect it with the current in a 3-way call.

Call Alternation

You can alternate between active and held call.

If second call is incoming:

  1. Press R to alternate between held and active call.
  2. Regardless of call direction press #2 to alternate between held and active call.

When a call has been put on hold a single beep is heard every 10 seconds.

If a held call is disconnected two short beeps are heard.

Call Hold

To place an ongoing call on hold:

  • Press R (on the phone)

To return to a call that has been put on hold:

  • Either press R (on the phone), or momentarily hang up the phone to go back to the call on hold.

If the remote end puts you on hold, tree short beeps will be heard every 10 seconds.

Call Transfer

  1. Pickup handset to answer an incoming call.
  2. Press Flash to put current call on hold and dial second destination.
  3. Wait for an answer on other side, press R to transfer the first incoming call to the second outgoing.
  4. At any time with two calls regardless of direction pressing #4 transfer the ongoing to the holding call.

:!: All three parties involved in the call transfer must have support for the call transfer feature.

Blind Call Transfer

To transfer a call without notifying the receiver:

  1. Pickup handset to answer an incoming call.
  2. Press Flash to put current call on hold and dial #90 followed by second destination.
  3. Call is immediately transfered, resorder tone will be played.

:!: Two of the three parties involved in the blind call transfer must have support for the blind call transfer feature. The phone that the call is transferred to is the only one that does not need the feature support.

Three Way Calls

To set up a mini conference call between three parties:

  1. Dial the first destination.
  2. Press Flash to put current call on hold and dial second destination.
  3. Press Flash to join all three calls in conference.

At any time with two calls regardless of direction pressing #3 will connect 3-way.

Hangup leads to all calls are disconnected.

If a remote end hangs up two short beeps indicate someone left the conference.

Call Disconnect

  1. Press #1 to hang up current call and switch to the holding one.
  2. Hanging up quits current call and leads to that the phone will ring for you to pick up the holding call.
