On the front panel display the text Hi
, Lo
or AC
indicates that there is a working WAN (Internet) connection.
If this is not the case, you have probably one of the following display appearances:
blank, apart from a single dot in the lower right corner. This indicates that there is no low-level link (i.e. no Ethernet link in case of Ethernet type of
WAN, or no ADSL link) on the
WAN interface.
If using Ethernet as the
WAN port:
Check the cables and connectors. When an Ethernet link is established, the
WAN led (on 4-port models the ET4 led) should be lit, ”
100
” is displayed for a short while on the display, and there is a message “Link up” entered in the system log.

one rolling figure-of-eight, accompanied by the text ”
IP
”. This shows that the low-level link has been properly established but the modem has not (yet) got its IP address on the
WAN interface.
If you have problems accessing the Internet from a PC on the LAN, follow this procedure:
(This assumes that you want to use the Internet Gate as a router and use it to assign IP addresses to all the devices on your local network.)
Check that there is a working connection between the PC and the Internet Gate, follow the instructions
here.
Check the Internet (
WAN) connection (of the Internet Gate) as described above. You must have one of the
Hi
,
Lo
or
AC
texts on the display.
Check that your PC uses Internet Gate as its
Default Gateway (for Windows: check with “ipconfig /all” at the Command Prompt).
