Telephone Ports

Internet Gate's telephone ports allow you to:

  • connect analogue telephones to it, converting them to IP-phones FXS
  • connect it to the global telephone network, and be able to make and receive ordinary telephone calls FXO

Phone ports are marked PH1, PH2 on the back panel of the Internet Gate, and LINE for connection to the global telephone network.

Phone Ports (FXS)

Connect a telephone to the FXS port to make ordinary or SIP calls. It is possible to connect up to 5 phones to each FXS port. The two phone ports allows you to have two different registrations (phone numbers).

FXS1 controls port PH1, FXS2 controls port PH2.

For each port you specify the SIP address to use, and (if authentication is required) the user ID and password. The SIP address is a combination of your username and your domain, like john@company.com. Used ID might be the same as your username, if not specified separately. Display name is the descriptive username sent to other SIP phones when you make calls (usually your own name).

Call Control

You can make calls and control your phone either by dialing on the phone or clicking on the buttons on this webpage.

:!: The dialcodes you dial on your phone for certain actions are country dependent. For each button on the web interface you see the according dial code to perform the same action dialing on the phone.

Using the buttons or dial codes you can dial (make calls), transfer calls to other recipients, reject (deny) an incoming call, and have two calls you can alter between or join together for a mini-conference:

  • Other Call - put current call on hold, switch to other call
  • Hang up - end the current call, switch to other call
  • Conference - join both calls into a mini-conference where all three parties can hear each other
  • Attended Transfer - transfer the call currently on hold to the active call's recepient

Common tasks

Below are description of how some common telephone tasks can be carried out, all dialcodes are according to the US Extended telephony keys style:
